To Upset – I Want to See You

In this solo activity, I chose the verb ‘to upset.’ I tried originally to stray from the conventional meaning of ‘upset,’ which relates more to people, and to instead focus on objects being upset from their natural or resting state. I wanted to find things that could act as simple harmonic oscillators and make them resonate. I also wanted to explore what is known as the ‘tipping point,’ and the all the physics behind tipping and toppling. I was very interested visually in the way that tipping things looked, especially when they were then able to return to their resting states. The video was comprised of lots of short clips, some taken by others and some taken by me. I think it would have been more effective perhaps if the room was silent, and I could’ve incorporated some of the noises of things falling. The audio of the girl crying was taken from Youtube; I could not film my own due to it being a last-minute decision. I quite like this audio anyway; it sounds very distressing.
